Community Guidelines

Moonbase is played against other people. You choose a player handle, you may name a clan, and you can send messages to your neighbours and to your clan. This page sets out what is and is not allowed in any of those, and how to tell us when somebody breaks the rules.

Your player handle, which every other player in your game can see
The name of a clan you found
Every message you send, whether to one player, to your clan, or to your clan's officers

What is not allowed

Harassment, threats, or abuse directed at another player
Hate speech, or attacks on people because of who they are
Sexual content, and any content involving children
Spam, scams, phishing, or advertising
Impersonating another player, or claiming to work for us
Sharing anyone's personal information, including your own
Anything illegal

Attacking another player's moonbases is not a breach of these rules. It is how the game is played, and being raided is part of it.

Blocking a player

Open a chat with the player — tap the chat button on their panel, in the players list or on the map — then tap the three dots at the top of the chat and choose BLOCK. Neither of you can message the other from then on, and neither of you can invite the other to a clan. It works both ways whichever of you blocked the other, so blocking somebody also stops them writing to you.

Blocking does not apply inside a clan you are both in. A clan is a room you both chose to join, so its messages carry on as normal — if somebody in your clan is a problem, report them, or leave the clan.

Blocking is not reporting, and we are not told when you block somebody. It also has no effect on the game itself: a player you have blocked can still attack your moonbases, and you can still attack theirs. Choose UNBLOCK in the same place to lift it.

How to report something

In the app. To report a player, open a chat with them, tap the three dots at the top and choose REPORT. You can add a line saying why, but you do not have to. We record who you reported, what their handle was at the time, and when, and we do not tell them. To report a single message, tap the time beside it and choose REPORT.

By email. Write to info@play-moonbase.co.za with the subject "Report". Use this for anything the app cannot report on its own, such as a clan name, or something that needs explaining.

Tell us the player handle of the person you are reporting, roughly when it happened, and what was said or shown. If it was a message, quoting it helps us find it.

What happens next

We read every report. We aim to respond within 7 days, and sooner where somebody is at risk.

Depending on what we find, we may remove a message, reset a player handle or a clan name, or suspend or remove the account behind it. We will not always be able to tell you what action we took against another player.

We keep a record of reports, including what was reported and who wrote it, so that we can act on repeated behaviour. We keep those records even if the account is later deleted.
